I’m used to using rogers cable hi speed internet.
But we’ve switched to phone jack internet… what is that? is it significantly slower than cable?
I use the internet for intense web surfing maybe downloading once in a while and gaming once in a while..but mostly internet. will it affect me?

Either Dial-up or DSL.
If Dial-up, yes, it is much slower than cable. Gaming is not really an option on Dial-up.
If DSL, you shouldn’t notice much of a difference.

Rogers internet uses a cable. Phone jack internet is not necessarily slower depending on the service you get. If you get ADSL, which is offered from TELUS, the speed is equivalent to cable. However the internet goes through your phone line and is separated using a modem.
I use ADSL through the phone jack and it is very fast.
However there is another variation of phone jack internet called ‘Dail up’ or “56K “. This variation is very slow and ties up your phone line, so you can’t use your internet if you on the phone.
If u get ADSL you will not even notice a difference. If you get 56K, good luck downloading anything lol.
you are using Rogers so i assume you are in Canada, i would recommend TELUS internet
