This really belongs in the Land Phones section. That said:

You should locate jacks close to where you'd locate your desk phones or modem, for convenience. For instance, if you already have an idea where your beds will go, place a jack nearby so you can place a deskphone on the nearby nightstand. If you know where the computer in your office will go, place the jack nearby.

In addition, if you plan on bringing in satellite TV, you'd want a phone jack co-located with where your coax will come in, since you'll need the phone line nearby to connect your receiver to.

Place at least one jack in each room. It's much easier to run cabling before the drywall goes up than trying to fish wire through afterwards.

Also note that a lot of electricians will run 4 station wiring (CAT5), so the wiring that you think will be used for phone could be reconfigured with a router and high speed internet connection into a wired internet network.

If I understand u correctly (and I hope I do) u want to know where's the best place to install a phone jack. I would say the best place is next to the electrical outlets because a lot of phones out use the electrical outlet as well as the phone jack so it would b convenient 4 them 2 b close.

you can put a phone jack any where you want and as many as you want..bathroom,kitchen,bedroom,basement,garage and even outdoors on a patio.does'nt mean you have to have a phone plugged into every jack, but you can have a phone that you can move and plug in easily.i hope this answers your question if i got it right.
